Role Title: Security Onion Specialist

micro1 is engaging Security Onion Specialists to contribute to a dynamic customer project focused on advancing security operations and threat detection capabilities. In this role, you’ll apply your expertise to help train next-generation AI systems. Your work will shape how models learn, reason, and perform through high-quality, real-world input. No prior experience in AI is required — your domain knowledge is what matters. This engagement is ideal for professionals who excel at both technical implementation and clear, concise communication, ensuring knowledge transfer and actionable insights.

Scope of Work

1. Complete assigned workflows and tasks within Security Onion using your practical cybersecurity experience.
2. Navigate Security Onion features related to network monitoring, alert investigation, log analysis, threat detection, and incident response.
3. Analyze security alerts, network traffic, logs, and other relevant security data within Security Onion.
4. Record your screen while completing assigned workflows and clearly demonstrate the steps taken.
5. Create realistic prompts and detailed rubrics based on completed workflows.
6. Document workflow steps and clearly explain the tools, features, and investigation techniques used.
7. Review and evaluate task outputs for accuracy and alignment with project guidelines.
8. Follow project instructions and quality standards while working independently in a remote environment.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Strong hands-on experience using Security Onion for security monitoring, threat detection, or incident investigation.
2. Prior Human Data experience, such as data annotation, labeling, RLHF, AI response evaluation, model evaluation, or similar work.
3. Current access to Security Onion and ability to use the application independently.
4. Comfortable recording and sharing your screen while completing workflows.
5. Strong attention to detail and ability to clearly explain technical workflows.
